  The book starts off well with lots of stories about Lennys childhood and early years. The second half focuses on the many hidings dished out by the Guv'nor. These should have been the highlight but I found the first half far more interesting and descriptive/5().   This book had me right to it's sad ending and beyond, it's great that such a downtrodded individual could make a stand and a name for himself, both on the cobbles and in peoples hearts. The man is a legend and will no doubt live on in history. A fantastic book by a fantastic man. The Guv'nor is dead, long live the Guv'nor!4/5.   "The Guv'nor" is too disjointed with friends, acquaintances, and anyone who may or may not have ever met Mr. McLean recounting stories. As a result, there is little progression of Mr. McLean's life. The book reads like a compilation of blog entries on an uber-fan's web site and should've best left to that forum.
